The challenge

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is the peak Aboriginal representative body in New South Wales.

Its annual report must explain governance, financial performance and land rights activity to members, government and the wider community.

The challenge was to make complex legislative and governance reporting easy to understand, while still meeting strict statutory requirements.

Design

We combined contemporary annual report design with culturally informed visual elements. Circular motifs inspired by Aboriginal design traditions create a distinctive visual language.

Clear grids, strong typography and a logical structure help readers move easily through complex information.

We took care to use cultural references respectfully and consistently. This reinforces the report’s connection to Country, community and identity, while keeping the design clear and accessible.

Editorial
